NEEDS (National Environment and Equity Development Society Nepal) has been active in the social sector from the last 18 years. It is registered in the District Administration Office Kanchanpur on 2055 Falgun 20 (i.e. 4 March 1999) under Society Registration Act 1977 as a non-governmental social organization. Even before the officially establishment, youth groups were massively engaged in the society for social transformation, good governance and development. The initiative later formed in the organization shape as Nepal Ecology and Education Society and commenced to work in the southern belt of the Municipality. The current NEEDS Nepal is evolved gradually with the required amendments in its Constitution and now broadened its working domain as well.
Along with the establishment, NEEDS Nepal has been implementing various programs related to empowerment, socio-economic development and social transformation particularly for children, women, Dalit and indigenous people of the entire Far Western Region who are marginalized and vulnerable to different social issues. The organization is collaborating with various government and non-government agencies on social awareness, good governance, safe migration, livelihood, disaster risk reduction within the prevailing policies and the programs of the Government of Nepal. It is affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC) and other many sectoral alliances and undertaking massive advocacy and other initiatives on local, regional and national issues.
